The Pera Museum, which has become one of the most popular museums in Turkey with its activities since its foundation, is waiting for its visitors.
The Pera Museum, which opened its doors in early June 2005, is the first step of a comprehensive cultural initiative of the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation to provide culture and arts services in this distinguished part of the city. For the Pera Museum, which assumes the function of a 'museum-cultural center' in this project, the building built in 1893 by architect Achille Manoussos in Tepebaşı, Istanbul's favorite district, has been completely overhauled by architect M. Sinan Genim and transformed into a modern equipped museum and put into service.
The Pera Museum shares the "Orientalist Painting", "Anatolian Weights and Measures" and "Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics" collections of the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation and the values represented by these collections with the public through exhibitions, publishing products, oral events, film screenings, learning programs and scientific studies, and aims to pass them on to future generations.
