However, Teinosuke Kinugasa's film transcends the boundaries of a traditional narrative. Influenced by writer Yasunari Kawabata and the avant-garde artists of the Shinkankakuha [New Perception] group, the film constantly blurs the lines between reality and madness, memory and dreams, through fragmented editing, rapid camera movements, superimpositions, distorted images, and rhythmic montage. Long thought lost and rediscovered years later, "In the Service of Madness" is now considered a masterpiece of Japanese avant-garde cinema. **About Ha Za Vu Zu:** Ha Za Vu Zu is an Istanbul-based artist collective.
