Director: Lütfi Ömer Akad Screenplay: Attilâ İlhan (Ali Kaptanoğlu) Cast: Sadri Alışık, Çolpan İlhan, Turgut Özatay, Ahmet Tarık Tekçe, Sadettin Erbil Turkey / 1959 / 113 minutes / Black and White / DCP / Turkish / English Subtitles "The Lonely Wharf" is a classic work of Turkish cinema, renowned for Lütfi Ömer Akad's masterful direction, the poetic screenplay by Attilâ İlhan, and its unforgettable dialogues. Filmed in the foggy and somber atmosphere of Istanbul, the film tells the story of a lonely ship captain (Sadri Alışık) and a woman trying to survive in a dark world (Çolpan İlhan), who find solace and seek hope and love by clinging to each other, all told in a poetic and melancholic style. *The film was restored from a 35mm positive copy found in the TRT2 archive, and the digital restoration was carried out at Atlas Post Production. We would like to thank our sponsor, Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi, for their support of the restoration project, as well as the Mimar Sinan University Prof. Sami Şekeroğlu Application and Research Center for their contributions to the process, and the copyright holder, Beşiktaş Kültür Merkezi.
