It tells the story of a news anchor who, upon learning he is about to be fired, suffers a nervous breakdown on live television, which is then ruthlessly exploited by a television executive as a ratings grab. The film exposes how the media-capital network manipulates viewers, surrounding them while disregarding ethical values and human life. It won four Academy Awards at the 49th Academy Awards: Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. * We would like to thank Il Cinema Ritrovato and Cineteca Bologna for their contributions.
