Woyzeck
Georg Büchner's classic work, Woyzeck, is being brought back to the stage by the ANTİ Theatre in a contemporary, one-person interpretation. This adaptation, based on Büchner's text, explores the destructive effects of war, poverty, power, and systematic oppression on the individual, viewed through a modern perspective. With its minimalist staging, physical acting, and multi-layered narrative, the production invites the audience to share Woyzeck's fractured mind, bringing a classic text into the world of today and offering a universal perspective on the human struggle for existence.
Living in poverty, the soldier Woyzeck struggles to support his family while enduring the constant humiliation from his superior officer and the inhumane experiments of a doctor. Subjected to endless orders, stripped of his right to question, and increasingly isolated, Woyzeck begins to lose his grip on the line between reality and illusion. His confrontation with the infidelity of Marie, the woman he loves, sets him on an irreversible path.
This adaptation reinterprets Büchner's character not only as the victim of a personal tragedy, but also as a representation of war, authority, poverty, and the unseen violence of the modern world.
