The Secret Garden, a duo consisting of Norwegian composer and pianist Rolf Løvland and Irish violinist Fionnuala Sherry, is coming to Istanbul as part of their 30th-anniversary tour. The duo will perform on Sunday, November 22nd, at the Zorlu PSM Turkcell Stage, organized by Stagepass and Musicarium.
In 1995, Secret Garden made a significant milestone in music history by winning the Eurovision Song Contest with "Nocturne," a piece that was almost entirely instrumental. To date, they have garnered over 3 billion streams, sold more than 6 million albums, and received 113 platinum records. They also hold the record for the longest continuous presence on the Billboard New Age chart, remaining there for an impressive 311 weeks, making them one of the most enduring success stories in that genre.
The group's iconic song, "You Raise Me Up," stands out as one of the most covered songs of the century. Performed by over 1000 artists, including Josh Groban, Il Divo, and Celtic Woman, the song has been translated into over 40 languages and has been featured in numerous significant events, from the Olympic Games to the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Written by Rolf Løvland after the loss of his mother, this piece initially served as a personal expression of grief, but it has since evolved into a classic that resonates with millions, offering comfort and strength.
