Olimpo Garajı (Garage Olimpo)

Director: Marco Bechis Screenplay: Marco Bechis, Lara Fremder, Caterina Giargia Cast: Antonella Costa, Carlos Echevarria, Chiara Caselli, Dominique Sanda Argentina, Italy, France / 1999 / 98 min. / Color / DCP / Spanish / With Turkish subtitles "Olimpo Garage," which premiered at the "Certain Regard" section of the Cannes Film Festival, examines the period of the Videla dictatorship, known as the "Dirty War." The film focuses on Maria, who is arrested on suspicion of being linked to an anti-government organization, and her interrogation at a secret detention center. Instead of graphically depicting the violence, the film conveys it to the audience through sound design and the use of space. "Olimpo Garage" offers a disturbing cinematic experience that will stay with you long after the credits roll, illustrating how military dictatorship and state violence can profoundly impact everyday life. * We would like to thank Lumiton and the Argentine Consulate for their collaboration, and our main program sponsor, Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi, for their support.
