Okuma Kulübü: Homeros Odysseia Destanı
Our reading club aims to explore significant works of world literature and the history of thought, accompanied by theoretical perspectives, every first Wednesday of the month.
This month, we will be discussing Homer's *Odyssey*, one of the foundational texts of Western literature.
*The Odyssey*, one of humanity's oldest narratives of a journey, not only recounts the adventures of Odysseus as he attempts to return home after the Trojan War, but also addresses themes of identity, belonging, memory, desire, patience, and transformation.
We will examine Odysseus's ten-year journey home, the challenges he faces, his understanding of heroism, and the epic's influence on literature and culture over the centuries, through the lenses of mythology, history, psychology, and literature.
Furthermore, we will connect Homer's narrative to contemporary culture by discussing modern interpretations of the epic, using Christopher Nolan's film adaptation, *The Odyssey*. In this way, we will explore how an ancient text is reinterpreted and brought to life in today's narrative landscape and in various art forms.
