Narcisa Hirsch, who began her artistic practice with painting and later became known for her performance and film work, is a pioneering figure in Argentine experimental cinema. In the program, we present close-up portraits drawn from the director's personal archive, which evoke a unique sensory language through images that create a sense of intimacy and feel like visual-auditory poems. As part of the main program, we are showcasing five short films from the director's rich filmography, which will be shown in Turkey for the first time. * The total running time is 87 minutes. * We would like to thank Lumiton and the Argentine Consulate for their collaboration, and our main program sponsor, Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi, for their support. 1. **Bach: He Probably Closed the Door When He Wanted to Work (Seguro que Bach cerraba su puerta cuando quería trabajar)** * Director: Narcisa Hirsch * Cast: Marie Louise Alemann, Katja Alemann, Irene Joselevich, Silvia Cruz, Elena Torres, Diana Hirsch Schijman, Leila Yael, Narcisa Hirsch * Argentina / 1979 / 27 min. / Color / DCP / Spanish / Subtitled in Turkish * In this film, which conveys the experience of women looking at themselves in a fragmented way, Narcisa Hirsch places both herself and a group of female friends in front of the camera in close-up. Initially, the images are recorded silently, and later shown to the women. The soundtrack features the feelings and thoughts of the women as they confront their own images. 2. **Patagonian Diaries 2 (Diarios Patagónicos 2)** * Director: Narcisa Hirsch * Cast: Narcisa Hirsch, Horacio Maira, Marie Louise Alemann * Argentina / 1972 / 11 min. / Color / DCP / No dialogue * *Patagonian Diaries 2* is a personal narrative of Hirsch's journey with her friends Horacio Maira and Marie Louise Alemann from Bariloche to the Atlantic coast. This film, which stands out for its editing and lies between documentary and avant-garde, features the camera moving between Patagonian landscapes and bodies, conveying the director's observations of the region. 3. **Orpheus and Eurydice (Orfeo y Eurídice)** * Director: Narcisa Hirsch * Cast: Narcisa Hirsch, Rafael Maino * Argentina / 1976 / 12 min. / Color / DCP / No dialogue * Also known as *Rafael, 1976*, *Orpheus and Eurydice* focuses on Hirsch's relationship with the painter Rafael Maino; it is part of the same series as *Rafael, August 1984* and *Rafael 1975*. The film, composed of images from Hirsch and Maino's travels in Patagonia, features Christoph Willibald Gluck's opera dedicated to the myth of "Orpheus and Eurydice," filtered through Hirsch's personal perspective, becoming a companion to the early, passionate stages of love and intimacy. 4. **Rafael, August 1984 (Rafael, Agosto de 1984)** * Director: Narcisa Hirsch * Cast: Rafael Maino * Argentina / 1984 / 12 min. / Color / DCP / Spanish / With Turkish Subtitles "I was so happy with you, and now the reeds bend over the water. There is no nostalgia." "With You" is a visual love letter from Narcisa Hirsch to the painter Rafael Maino on his birthday. The director compiles Super 8 footage from their travels in Patagonia, offering a poignant and sensory look at the years the couple spent together, now marked by a shared memory and the mourning of a love that has ended. 5. To God / Goodbye (Adiós) Director: Narcisa Hirsch Argentina / 2023 / 26 min. / Color / DCP / No Dialogue In "To God / Goodbye," Narcisa Hirsch, with the words at the beginning of the film, dedicates it to Carl Jung and to "the men who made life possible." The film examines the return of the man defeated by war and the decline of the hero myth. Hirsch explores masculinity through different archetypes and iconography, depicting this decline with compassion by blending archival footage with her own. *Please note that the film contains scenes of violence towards animals.
