"Invasion," Hugo Santiago's first feature film, is considered one of the most important and unique films in Argentine cinema. Adapted from a story co-written by Jorge Luis Borges and Adolfo Bioy Casares, the film tells the story of a group trying to resist the invasion of the city of Aquileia by unknown individuals. Despite receiving great acclaim upon its release, the film was banned ten years later and remained lost for years after the original negatives were stolen during a military dictatorship. In 2004, after being restored by combining 35mm reels sourced from various archives, "Invasion" was re-released to audiences. It is one of the most powerful films in Argentine cinema, exploring themes of memory, loss, and resistance.
