Isaiah Collier | Concert
The versatile Chicago-based artist, Isaiah Collier, a composer, activist, curator, and saxophone virtuoso, is bringing his "Collier Plays Coltrane" project to Komünite on November 19th at 9:30 PM.
Collier, who has gained recognition not only for his own projects but also for his collaborations with artists like Angel Bat Dawid, Chance The Rapper, and Waddada Leo Smith III, combines the rich tradition of jazz with a futuristic vision. His latest work, "Cosmic Transitions," which received five stars from Downbeat and was chosen as "Album of the Year" by numerous platforms, has garnered significant attention. The artist conceives of his music not just as a performance, but as a spiritual experience. This special suite, recorded in the legendary studio of Rudy Van Gelder, using the analog equipment used in John Coltrane's birthday recordings and the "A Love Supreme" sessions, serves as a tribute to the jazz legacy while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of music.
Don't miss this high-energy and profound performance, where traditional sounds meet a modern expression.
