Girls in Airports
The Copenhagen-based indie jazz group, Girls in Airports, will be performing at Komünite on December 12th at 9:30 PM.
During their student years, the group abandoned all conventions, pursuing music above all else. This free-spirited approach is reflected in their sound, which features vintage keyboards, saxophone, and a diverse range of percussion instruments from different regions. The group seamlessly blends jazz, ambient, and folk influences, creating a unique and layered sonic landscape that brings together different instrumental textures around a shared sense of exploration. They defy categorization, creating a distinctive sound that doesn't fit into any single genre.
Throughout their discography, which extends beyond their albums, and with over a decade of touring experience, the group has collaborated with artists like Teitur, Halvcirkel, and the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, and has also performed at the Roskilde Festival. Known for their live performances that are constantly evolving and rarely repeated, Girls in Airports are now bringing their unique sound to Komünite.
