İlhan Mimaroğlu'nun Yapıtlarında Caz Ögeleri - Leyla Diana Gücük, Alper Maral
The pioneering electronic music composer İlhan Mimaroğlu was also a passionate jazz enthusiast. Not only did he write Turkey's first book on jazz, "The Art of Jazz," shortly after his trip to the United States, the birthplace of the music, but his unique reviews published in numerous magazines and newspapers, his daring radio programs, and the iconic records he produced, all played a crucial role in the popularization of jazz culture, not only in Turkey but worldwide. In a discussion led by Leyla Diana Gücük and Alper Maral, the main aspects of this lifelong dedication will be outlined. Following this, a masterclass will be held, in which the jazz elements that hold a significant place in Mimaroğlu's works, both in electronic music and in conventional instrumental music, will be thoroughly examined. No professional or technical knowledge is required of the participants; a genuine interest and curiosity about this exceptional music and his remarkable output will be sufficient.
Speakers: Leyla Diana Gücük, Alper Maral.
