Director: Fernando Solanas, Octavio Getino Screenplay: Fernando Solanas, Octavio Getino Cast: María de la Paz, Edgardo Suárez, Fernando Solanas Argentina / 1968 / 241 minutes / Black and White / DCP / Spanish / With Turkish subtitles "The Hour of the Furnaces" is one of the most important political films, not only in Argentine cinema but also in world cinema, transforming cinema into a tool for political struggle and collective debate. Filmed secretly after the 1966 military coup, the film became a manifesto of resistance against injustice and neocolonialism in Latin America's political history, and became a symbol of underground cinema. Radically changing the observational documentary approach, "The Hour of the Furnaces," composed of three sections and constructed through news footage, slogans, photographs, and interviews, transcends the act of watching a film and paved the way for the establishment of Third Cinema with its revolutionary nature. * We would like to thank Lumiton and the Argentine Consulate for their collaboration, and our main program sponsor, Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi, for their support. * The film consists of three sections. There will be a 10-minute break between each section.
