Elizabeth Costello
Elizabeth Costello will be exhibiting at Paribu Art from November 18th to December 13th.
In his work, "The Writer's Novel," J.M. Coetzee features a writer named Elizabeth Costello as the main character, using her to explore the role of the intellectual, the relationship between the writer and their work, and a range of ethical issues. Is the responsibility of an intellectual to give voice to the voiceless? But what if a writer doesn't feel worthy or called to that role? What if that writer is devoid of faith?
"Elizabeth Costello," adapted and directed by Saim Güveloğlu, is a play about theater itself. What can a stage achieve? Does it open up space for significant change, or does it simply offer a venue for collective entertainment? In the midst of all this complexity, is it possible to create a play that is not just aesthetically pleasing, but also meaningful? The production aims to be a play that resists taking sides and, rather than delivering a specific message, explores different perspectives.
