"Wedding," the second installment of Lütfi Akad's "Migration Trilogy," tells the story of a family of six who migrate from Urfa to Istanbul and their struggle to build a life in the city. The men in the family intend to marry off their daughters for substantial dowries in order to achieve financial stability, but the eldest daughter, Zelha, opposes this arrangement. Zelha, who resists being "sold" into marriage under the guise of tradition, confronts the patriarchal authority in her fight. "Wedding," which earned Akad the Best Director award at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, explores the poverty caused by migration alongside the continuation of rural traditions in the city, while questioning the patriarchal system through a strong female character.
