It is an adaptation for the cinema of Ali Rıza Seyfi's Turkish version of Bram Stoker's "Dracula" novel, which also served as the basis for "Nosferatu" (1922, F. W. Murnau), and was published in 1997 under the title "Dracula in Istanbul." The screenplay, successfully adapted to Turkish conditions, earned Ümit Deniz the "Best Screenplay" award from the Film Friends Association. Director Mehmet Muhtar's impressive direction, the editing that constantly maintains tension, the expert cinematography, and the sound design have elevated this film to cult status among film enthusiasts. Count Dracula, through his lawyer Azmi, wants to buy many houses in Istanbul. However, when Azmi learns that Dracula is actually a vampire (referred to as a "ghost" in the film), he tries to kill the Count. Dracula, escaping from Azmi, arrives in Istanbul, and his arrival is a harbinger of great danger for Azmi's fiancée, Güzin, and his cousin, Şadan. *The film's original nitrate-based negative has been preserved in the archive of the Mimar Sinan University Prof. Sami Şekeroğlu Research and Application Center. After the physical restoration of the negatives was completed at Atlas Post Production, high-resolution scanning was performed at the Cinema-TV Center. Digital restoration and all post-production processes were also carried out at Atlas Post-Production. We would like to thank Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi, the sponsor of our restoration project, and Melike Demirağ, the copyright holder.
