Clown Jam

Clown Jam is a contemporary clown cabaret format developed by Physical Theatre Research (FTA). It brings together a diverse range of performance practices that intersect with the art of clowning, including cabaret, burlesque, grotesque performance, musical comedy, mime, contemporary circus, puppetry, dance, music, and physical theatre, as well as drag. These different disciplines converge through physical comedy, playfulness, and direct interaction with the audience. Each Clown Jam evening is shaped by different performance combinations, offering a constantly evolving and dynamic viewing experience. Throughout the evening, the audience transcends the role of passive observer and can become a part of an interactive performance that unfolds unexpectedly throughout the space. Designed as a performance experience for adult audiences, Clown Jam premiered in February 2025 and represents a new development in the research being conducted in Turkey on contemporary clown performance.
