Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, "Camila" is one of the most important works of the period of transition from military dictatorship to democracy in Argentina. Directed by María Luisa Bemberg, a pioneer of feminist cinema, the film, despite all the restrictions of the junta era, brings to the screen the true story of Camila O'Gorman, who became a legend among the Argentine people. "Camila" tells the tragic love story of Camila, the daughter of a wealthy family, and the Jesuit priest Ladislao, set against the backdrop of the dictatorship. Upon its release, the film became a symbol of the political and feminist awakening in Argentine cinema, paving the way for the revitalization of the country's film industry and its increased international visibility.
