About Trip

Cemal Reşit Rey, who was the first to arrange folk melodies in a polyphonic way, composed the first major symphonies, symphonic poems, concertos, chamber music, piano, and stage works, and is still remembered for the operetta Lüküs Hayat and the "Tenth Year March," is a secret hero who lives among us. Evin İlyasoğlu narrates the life of Cemal Reşit Rey, a significant pioneer of contemporary Turkish music, along with the now-gone mansion life, its dishes, table manners, and cultural environment. His life, with important figures such as his father Ahmet Reşit Bey, one of the last interior ministers of the Ottoman Empire, and his great-uncle Osman Hamdi Bey, symbolizes the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic and represents a unique synthesis of East and West. Cemal Reşit Rey: Journeys in a World of Music, with its updated new edition, covers the story of a great figure who dedicated his entire life to music in all its aspects. You are invited to this journey in our music history. In memory of his 119th birthday, with respect.
