Yıldız Çini ve Porselen Fabrikası

This museum-factory on the upper edge of Yıldız Park is the Imperial Yıldız Tile Factory that Abdülhamid II set up in the palace garden in the early 1890s to revive the traditional arts of tiles and porcelain. Damaged in 1894, the building was rebuilt the same year by Raimondo D'Aronco. Its products carry the crescent-and-star mark with the founding and production years. Production stopped in 1909 and resumed on the initiative of Osman Hamdi Bey; the factory passed to Sümerbank in 1959 and to the National Palaces in 1995. Today it makes wall plates, vases and coffee and tea sets inspired by traditional motifs, and visitors can see the hand-decoration section. Closed on public and religious holidays.
