Perili Köşk (Borusan Contemporary)

The castle-like red-brick Perili Köşk in Rumelihisarı is a mansion begun in the 1910s for Yusuf Ziya Pasha, chief aide-de-camp to Khedive Abbas Hilmi Pasha of Egypt. When the craftsmen were called up in the First World War construction stopped, and because its floors stood empty for decades the building became known as the Haunted Mansion. It was completed between 1995 and 2000 to projects by the architect Hakan Kıran, faithful to the original design. The headquarters of Borusan Holding since 2007, it has opened at weekends since 2011 as Borusan Contemporary, with exhibitions focused on new media art. Visits are possible only on Saturdays and Sundays.
