About Venue
Built in the 530s for Saints Sergius and Bacchus a few years before Hagia Sophia, this church reads like a small rehearsal for its great neighbour. The octagonal plan and the Greek inscription band on the capitals survive; the courtyard cells now house small craft workshops. Five minutes takes you away from the Sultanahmet crowds.
