About Venue
The first station after Ankara Central in the Eskişehir direction, inside the Atatürk Forest Farm. It opened on 1 February 1926 to a design by Ahmet Burhanettin Tamcı and counts among the monumental station buildings of the First National Architecture movement, with pointed arches, Kütahya tiles and carved wooden eaves on the facade. Atatürk used to alight here on returning from his tours of the country, and the Republic's first official guest, King Amanullah of Afghanistan, was seen off from here. From 1972 to 2016 it served the Sincan-Kayaş suburban line, was closed for the Başkentray works and reopened on 12 April 2018. Today B1 trains use the island platform; the historic building is closed to passengers and is seen from outside.
