About Venue
A han on Çakmakçılar Yokuşu, commissioned by Sultan Mustafa III to fund his foundations and completed in 1763-1764. According to Wikipedia it is the second largest building of its kind in Istanbul after the Büyük Valide Han. Its rooms rise in three storeys around a narrow courtyard about 85 metres long. Walls of alternating light and dark stone, projecting upper floors and a stone birdhouse at one corner stand out. It first housed mainly moneychangers, and the Emniyet Sandığı savings fund operated here from 1868 to 1927; today it is full of shops and businesses.
