About Venue
The post office in Sirkeci designed by Vedat Tek as the building of the Ministry of Post and Telegraph and built between 1905 and 1909; one of the earliest examples of the First National Architectural Movement and Turkey's largest post office building. The two corners of the four-storey main facade are capped with domes, the facade is of dressed stone and marble, and the decoration follows the 16th-century Ottoman style. Inside, a central hall roofed with coloured glass rises through three floors. From 1927 to 1936 it also housed Istanbul Radio. The ground floor has a working post office, and since 2000 part of the building has held the PTT Istanbul Museum.
