Üsküdar, İstanbul
About Venue
Construction of the Büyük Çamlıca Mosque on Çamlıca Hill in Üsküdar began in 2013 and it opened for worship in 2019. The National Palaces administration describes it as the largest mosque in Istanbul and in Turkey. With six minarets and a dome 72 metres high, it can be seen from many parts of the city. The complex includes a library, an art gallery, a conference hall and art workshops. The Museum of Islamic Civilisations, opened in 2022 and run by the National Palaces administration, shows works from the 7th to the 19th centuries in fifteen sections and is closed on Mondays. It is a working mosque, so visitors should mind prayer times.
