Beykoz Grove (Abraham Pasha Grove)
Beykoz, İstanbul
About Venue
Beykoz Grove, also called Abraham Paşa Grove, covers 27.9 hectares on the Bosphorus hills between the Beykoz Merkez and Paşabahçe quarters. It is named after Abraham Paşa, who lived from 1833 to 1918. In his time it was laid out by French garden specialists and planted with exotic plants and trees that did not grow naturally in the Ottoman lands. Two large artificial grottoes, five pools and three artificial cascades survive from that landscape. The grove is run by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality as a recreation area open to the public, with walking paths, playgrounds and picnic tables.
