About Venue
A mosque on the shore of Bebek Bay in the Bebek quarter of Beşiktaş, right next to the pier; its official name is the Hümayun-u Abad Mosque. It was built of cut stone by Kemaleddin in 1913, replacing an earlier mosque built by Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Paşa. Its dome sits on an octagonal drum and is supported on the sides by four half domes. As one of the Bosphorus examples of the First National Architectural Movement, it shows Kemaleddin's mosque architecture on a small scale. It is in use for worship; visitors should mind prayer times and dress.
