About Venue
Standing in the first courtyard of Topkapı Palace, Hagia Irene is one of the few Byzantine churches in Istanbul never converted into a mosque. Its plain brick interior and the large mosaic cross in the apse date from the Iconoclast period. Thanks to its acoustics it long served as a concert venue.
