Atatürk Orman Çiftliği (AOÇ)

In 1925 Atatürk founded a model farm in the middle of the bare steppe; it still lives on the western edge of the city with picnic grounds, pine woods, the old brewery buildings, dairy and ice-cream outlets and a historic railway stop. The Atatürk House, an exact replica of his birthplace in Thessaloniki, and a small farm-animal area on the site of the former zoo draw families. AOÇ ice cream and milk are the taste of childhood for Ankara people; get yourself a cone.
