About Venue
Feshane on the Golden Horn is the Ottoman factory founded under Mahmud II to make fezzes and woollen cloth, soon moved from Kadırga to the Defterdar shore at Eyüp. Rebuilt in 1868 after the fire of 1866, it turned to cloth when the fez was banned in 1925 and ran under Sümerbank from 1937. When the Golden Horn shore was redeveloped in the 1980s only the great weaving hall was kept. Used for years as a fair venue, the hall reopened on 22 June 2023 as Artİstanbul Feshane, an arts and culture centre, after restoration by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. It also houses the Naile Akıncı Library. Closed on Mondays.
