AOÇ Bira Fabrikası ve Hamamı

One of the industrial plants of the Atatürk Forest Farm; founded in 1934, the factory was extended in 1937 to designs by the Austrian-Swiss architect Ernst Arnold Egli. In the same year Egli designed a reinforced-concrete bathhouse, a restaurant and housing for staff and workers beside it. The bathhouse is a curious early-Republican piece: instead of the shower blocks of European factories it keeps the traditional Turkish bath sequence of cold, warm and hot rooms, built in modern materials. The factory passed to the state monopoly Tekel in 1939. The restaurant and housing were demolished in 2014; the factory building, the bathhouse and the listed grain silo still stand. The complex is now leased out by the farm administration and the bathhouse is closed to visitors; the buildings are seen from outside on Çiftlik Caddesi.
