About Venue
The two-storey Adile Sultan Pavilion in the middle of Validebağ Grove was built in the mid 19th century in the time of Sultan Abdülaziz; its architect is thought to be Nikoğos Balyan, and sources give different construction dates. Around 1863 it was given as a summer palace to Adile Sultan, Abdülaziz's sister. A double staircase leads to the entrance, and each floor has a central hall with rooms around it. It later served as an orphanage, a boarding school and a sanatorium, and since 1991 it has been a teachers' guesthouse and cultural centre of the Ministry of National Education. The Hababam Sınıfı films were shot here in the 1970s, and in 2014 one room became the Hababam Sınıfı Museum.
