FERTILITY.

"A woman's place is in the home."
I sat down.

"A woman's role is to keep her home clean."
I cleaned it.

"A woman should know when to keep her mouth shut."
Got it.

"A woman's purpose is to bear children."
I couldn't give birth.

What happens to a woman who is unable to have children?

Who considers someone "complete," and who considers them "incomplete"? Who decides this?

Perhaps what should come first isn't the child, but... It is the woman herself.

Inspired by the timeless work of Federico García Lorca, the award-winning playwright... R. Onur Duru adapted for the modern world. FERTILITY.It's a powerful one-person play that prompts reflection on womanhood, motherhood, individual freedom, and societal expectations.

The play, which constantly engages with the audience, transforms tension into moments of amusement, only to then subvert those moments unexpectedly.

This is not just a story about suffering...

FERTILITY.The film explores the societal expectations placed on women's bodies, the pressure of motherhood, and the feeling of being perceived as "incomplete" by society, drawing the audience into the narrative.

For 75 minutes, there is only one actor on stage.

Award-winning veteran actress. Yeşim Alıç....bringing the world of Yerma to the stage with its powerful acting and compelling physical performance; Can Ali Çalışandemir's avant-garde direction....further enhancing the game's physical and visual presentation.

When is a woman considered to be complete?
Is becoming a mother a necessity?
What remains when people break free from the roles society assigns to women?

FERTILITY.Instead of providing ready-made answers to these questions, it leaves the answers up to the audience.

This [work/piece/text] prompts reflection on womanhood, motherhood, freedom, and societal expectations. FERTILITY.As part of its cultural and artistic events, Istanbul Doğa is bringing together its theater-loving members.
