ULUDAĞ'IN ETEKLERİ

7 November 08:00
İstanbul Doğa

This route, located at the foothills of Uludağ, offers a blend of nature, history, and adventure, and is best enjoyed during the appropriate season.

This trail, located at the foot of Mount Uludağ, promises to be full of surprises as we explore the beauty of autumn.

Pine trees, juniper trees, chestnut trees, a waterfall named after a dispute over timber, a village that was the setting for a love story...

Our route will begin in the Uludağ Hotel area, specifically the Bakacak viewpoint, and proceed towards the Softaboğan Waterfall. From there, we will continue to Sarıalan and then, following the old cable car line, we will navigate through forest paths and trails to reach the village of Zeyniler. We will experience a truly immersive forest bathing experience in a magnificent forest environment.

Our trail will be challenging for participants who are just starting out. A significant portion of it involves downhill sections, and it can become quite steep at times. Therefore, it is essential to wear hiking boots that provide good ankle support and to carry trekking poles. The trail is approximately 2 kilometers long and includes some exploration.

Softaboğan Waterfall.

Located in the Softaboğan Valley, southeast of Bakacak, the Softaboğan waterfall is the most famous of the many waterfalls formed by the Kırkpınar stream, which flows north. The stream leading to the waterfall, situated north of the Çobankankaya campsite, also known as the Sultan Selim Pine Grove, features numerous natural pools. The path, descending through juniper trees and leading towards the pine forest, reaches the Kırkpınar stream after 850 meters. The expansive area to the right of the path, where a fountain is located, is known as the Sultan Selim Pine Grove. Following the paths on both sides of the stream, one reaches the Softaboğan waterfall after approximately 1.5 kilometers. According to historical accounts, the name "Softaboğan" originates from an incident where Yavuz Sultan Selim, during a struggle for the throne, caused the drowning of five brothers of his brother, Prince Ahmet, during a hunting trip in this area. The name of the area, known as the Sultan Selim Pine Grove, also derives from this event.

Zeyniler Village.

Zeyniler, famous for the novel "Çalıkuşu" by Reşat Nuri Güntekin, boasts a diverse range of attractions, including historical artifacts from the Ottoman era, numerous monasteries dating back to the Byzantine period, and its natural beauty. With its significant tourism potential, the development of hiking trails in the area, and the support for organic farming, the quality and quantity of day trips and activities are constantly increasing.
The Yıldırım Municipality is working to transform Zeyniler, a location just 10 minutes from the city center and known for its historical and natural beauty, into a tourism zone. To achieve this, the municipality has incorporated structures such as "Feride's House" and "The Wild Violet House," which served as inspiration for the novel "The Wild Violet" by the prominent Turkish writer Reşat Nuri Güntekin, into the realm of cultural tourism.
