Sevgili Arsız Ölüm - Dirmit
About the Novel.
"Unfulfilled dreams shattered the people I grew up with. I struggled to adapt to the city, and I was left scarred all over. In that struggle, I drifted away from the people I had grown up with. But I persevered, determined to preserve my own values, my language, and the love that those people had poured into me with such passion. This novel is a gift from those people, a tribute to my struggle to hold onto those things."
Latife Tekin.
About the Game.
We hear the story of a large family who migrate from a village to the city, told through the eyes of the family's youngest daughter, Dirmit. Living in a cramped one-room apartment, each member of the family struggles to adapt to city life, finding their own way to cope. Dirmit, with her insatiable curiosity and resilience, finds various ways to overcome the challenges she faces. Her mother, Atiye, her father, Huvat, and her older brothers are concerned about protecting her from the city, and they try to guide her according to customs and traditions, often creating obstacles in her path. But does Dirmit give up? Absolutely not!

About the Process.
This play is the result of an exploration that seeks to bring the magical realism of the novel to the stage, using Dirmit as a point of entry to understand the novel's protagonist, and then using Dirmit's narrative to introduce the other characters, while also conveying the novel's unique language, established through the author-narrator, in its most direct form through the character-narrator.
