On stage, a young man is talking about a particular area of interest: sounds.
He's speaking directly to us, as if he's giving a presentation.
The long table at the center of the stage resembles a technical hub. It's covered with various tools, devices, objects, photographs, and recordings.
He is talking about the impact that sounds have on him.
Starting from his childhood, he shares with us how his interest in this subject developed.
At first, the things he talks about seem very personal.
But as the story progresses, we realize how important sounds are in shaping our collective memory.
We also hear the sounds he describes, not just with our ears. We hear them with our memories, our emotions, and our intuition.
We seem to "remember" sounds that we've never even heard before.
The sounds of today, the sounds of our childhood, the sounds that have existed for centuries – they all converge, diverge, collide, and transform, taking us on a journey together.
The young man is chasing the sounds of the city he lives in, and we are following him.
Personal history transforms into a shared, collective history.
Thanks to what we hear, we confront what we have forgotten, we become aware of what we have taken for granted, we listen to things we would otherwise have ignored...
We are rediscovering a city.
