Sersem Kocanın Kurnaz Karısı
What is theater, after all? Just a couple of planks and a bit of passion... And then the play begins...
Moliere's "George Dandin" is currently being rehearsed by the Tomas Fasülyeciyan Company, who are preparing to perform it in Bursa. Subsequently, the production will be adapted into a version created by Ahmet Vefik Paşa, a prominent figure in our theater, and the tone of the play will change accordingly.
Improvisation, comedy, and spontaneous performance…
Haldun Taner's masterpiece, "The Cunning Wife of the Dazed Husband," takes the audience on an entertaining journey, showcasing the significant transformation in Turkish theater through its use of a play-within-a-play concept.
Should the West be imitated, or should it be transformed and made our own?
Should we prioritize faithfulness to the text, or the freedom of improvisation?
The play, while posing these questions with subtle wit, also reflects our theater's journey towards Westernization. It seamlessly blends laughter and sadness, and masterfully portrays the tension between tradition and innovation on stage.
