Sanat Rotası Borusan Contemporary'de
The "Art Route" series, a collaboration between İBB Culture Inc. and Borusan Contemporary, invites art enthusiasts to explore the captivating world of contemporary art. This special event promises a unique experience for viewers with two significant exhibitions from Borusan Contemporary: Olivo Barbieri's "Time, Space, Geometry" and a curated collection titled "Calling Memories of the Future."
Olivo Barbieri's "Time, Space, Geometry" exhibition presents a radical aesthetic approach to photographic practice. For nearly forty years, Barbieri has been creating work, and particularly since the 2000s, he has used optical manipulation techniques to give architectural structures, natural formations, and urban landscapes a unique visual perspective. The artist's compositions disrupt and reconstruct the viewing experience, transforming scale, perspective, and space, and ultimately turning representation itself into the subject.
The exhibition brings together five major series by Barbieri, offering a comprehensive overview of his relationship with landscape, time, space, and memory. The works, grouped under the titles "Time Space Geometry" (2023), "site-specific" (1999–2013), "Waterfall Project" (2006–2007), "The Alps – Landscapes and People" (2012), and "Capri" (2013), create a thematic continuity that extends from archaeological sites to global metropolises, exploring the relationship between the splendor of nature and human fragility, and encompassing the image-rich shores of the Mediterranean.
Evoking Future Memories: The Relationship Between Humans and Artificial Intelligence.
The exhibition, titled "Evoking Memories of the Future," focuses on humanity's existential questions from ancient Greece to the present day. The famous riddle posed by the Sphinx to Oedipus on the road to Thebes, which shaped the fundamental narrative of Western thought, placed humanity at the center of philosophy, art, and science. Today, the same riddle is being revisited through algorithms and artificial intelligence systems. The exhibition explores the relationship being forged with this new "other" – the non-human – and examines Oedipus's journey towards his own prophecy from a contemporary perspective.
This exhibition sheds light on a period where, in our rapidly evolving technological age, the very nature of human existence and the exclusive ownership of knowledge are being redefined. Through these two exhibitions presented by Borusan Contemporary, Art Route offers viewers the opportunity to experience the transformative power of contemporary art, providing both a visual feast and opportunities for deep intellectual reflection. To participate in the tours, which will have limited capacity, you can register through the Radar Türkiye application starting at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 5th.
