Sounds - A Theater Play by Salih Bademci
14 EKİM – MAXIMUM UNIQ HALL
Age Limit: 8+
A young man is on stage, telling us about a special area of interest: sounds.
He speaks directly to us. As if he were giving a presentation.
The long table at the center of the stage is almost like a technical center. Various tools, devices, objects, photographs, recordings…
He talks about the effect sounds have on him.
Starting from his childhood, he shares with us how his interest in this subject developed.
At first, what he tells us feels very personal.
But as the narrative progresses, we realize how important a place sounds hold in our collective memory.
Along with him, we hear the sounds he describes. We hear them not only with our ears, but with our memory, our emotions, and our intuition
.
We almost “remember” even sounds we have never heard before.
The sounds of the present, the sounds of our childhood, sounds that existed centuries ago. They all merge, separate, collide, transform,
and take us on a journey together.
The young man follows the sounds of the city he lives in, and we follow him.
Personal history turns into a shared history that we all share.
Through what we hear, we confront what we have forgotten, notice what we have grown accustomed to, and listen to what we have walked past
. . .
We get to know a city all over again.
