Paradise Lost, one of the most influential and pioneering bands in metal music and a key figure in gothic metal, is coming to Turkey with its album "Ascension," considered one of the most significant works of their career. The band will perform on November 15, 2026, at the IF Performance Hall in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, and on November 16, 2026, at the Milyon Performance Hall in Ankara.
The Pinnacle of a 35-Year Legacy: "Ascension"
Founded in Halifax in 1988, Paradise Lost laid the foundations of an entire genre with their legendary 1991 album, "Gothic," and has become one of the biggest names in the metal world, having sold over 2 million albums to date. The band, which has evolved throughout its career, ranging from its doom-death roots to the mainstream success of albums like "Draconian Times," and even incorporating experimental electronic elements, solidified its position once again with the release of "Ascension" in 2025.
This new album, featuring Gregor Mackintosh's signature melancholic melodies and Nick Holmes's vocals, which are both raw and powerful, serves as a summary of the band's 35-year journey. "People should expect more sadness from us," says Nick Holmes, summarizing the album's dark atmosphere, and emphasizing that Ascension is a portrait of the struggle for advancement in life and the inevitable consequences that come with it.
