Nokta
A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL.
As the yarn unravels, memories fade.
And this state of disintegration;
From the sounds of the roads to tribal songs, from the sounds of the "dengbej" (traditional Kurdish musicians) to gazelles (classical Arabic poems set to music) intertwined with the crackle of vinyl records, everything resonates.
These organic sounds transform into melodies that flow from the curves of the body.
Not a single note is superfluous; each one is a fragment of a memory.
A woman...
The weight of the past on his back.
He/She has a book in his/her hand.
It contains thousands of voices.
Nokta: The storyteller of forgotten stories.
We are shaping the truth of the era we are covering, like molding wool into a sack.
In each stitch, a face, a language, and a geography are reborn.
Every thread is a transformation.
Every transformation is a confrontation.
And no transformation is hidden.
It carries the memory within a single point.
It doesn't draw the viewer into the scene, but rather invites them to delve into the depths of memory.
A woman's body;
A song from a tribe in Africa,
a fragmentation of an alter ego,
Afife Jale's last breath,
A criminal who has become a celebrity, walking the red carpet.
and it transforms into the cold, impersonal face of a mechanized individual.
But behind all of this, there's always the same sound.
The voice of Nokta.
Eye contact, hand in hand, with the audience.
Something that was once told, but then forgotten.
to retell it.
This is a memorial service.
A personal archive of bodies.
It's a space for confronting our own past, our culture, and our flaws.
