Manos Loyzos, a composer born in Alexandria (Egypt) in 1937, is one of the most important figures in the Entechno movement, which blends the modal structures of Eastern Mediterranean music with Western harmony. Loyzos's works, shaped by the social atmosphere of Greece in the 1960s and 70s, feature lyrical compositions deeply connected to poetry. He has composed unique melodies for valuable works by prominent poets such as Nazım Hikmet, Yannis Ritsos, Dimitris Christodoulou, Lefteris Papadopoulos, Manolis Rasoulis, and Pythagoras, among many others. His compositions have transcended the Aegean Sea and have also found a place in Turkey's musical landscape.
On October 2nd, Serap Çiğdem Şahin and Alper Demirel will present a concert featuring Manos Loyzos's most important songs, sharing them with the audience along with the historical stories behind them.
