Kiss Facility
Kiss Facility, moving through the blurred boundaries of modern shoegaze, meets its audience in Ankara on 18 Ekim.
Kiss Facility is a multidisciplinary duo consisting of Mayah Alkhateri and Salvador Navarette. Since their first encounter, they have been creating together across sound, image, and performance. Their practice is founded on a spiritual inquiry nourished by themes such as psychic perception, ritual protection, privacy, and the afterlife as a force shaping the fate of the future. Kiss Facility pushes artistic boundaries through symbolism and real emotions while approaching identity as a space for self-transformation.
In terms of sound, the project sits at the boundaries of modern shoegaze; it is built on dense guitars, vocal poetics that feel as though they are coming from beneath the water, and compressed emotional intensity. The duo takes the genre’s familiar language and redirects it through Arabic lyricism, personal mythologies, and inner worlds rarely brought to the forefront in alternative music.
Their forthcoming album KHAZNA —meaning “safe,” “cellar,” or “treasure”— refers to things kept hidden. The album’s themes unfold through layered vocals and unexpected sounds, carrying vulnerable subjects such as love, liberation, and lived experience without turning them into spectacle or an explicit declaration. The album invites listening as an act of discovery and completes its cycle around themes of exploration.
Created by two people who live together and work together in the comfort of their home, KHAZNA feels more like something shared than something staged. The album, ready to be publicly unraveled, will be released in Mart via the ambient tweets label; this will be accompanied by the announcement of Kiss Facility’s first European tour and an album listening event.
