London-based producer, songwriter, and musician Kelly Lee Owens, known for her unique sound that combines ambient and minimal techno, techno-pop, and dream-pop styles, will be guesting at Babylon with her DJ set on April 25!
About Kelly Lee Owens:
Kelly Lee Owens received two certificates in high school, one for "Music Lover of the Year" and the other for "Dreamer of the Year." This dreaminess, which her mother called "Kelly's World," has made her one of the respected names pushing the ethereal and emotional boundaries of electronic music today. Her latest album, Dreamstate, serves as a manifesto dedicated to dreaming and healing by looking up. The album also marks the first release from George Daniel of The 1975's new electronic music label dh2.
Growing up among the Celtic landscapes of North Wales, Owens states that her connection to nature is one of the main sources of inspiration for her music. Initially, Owens pursued nursing to use her empathy, but while working at a cancer hospital, she found the courage to turn to music with the encouragement of patients to "follow your true dream."
Her introduction to analog synthesizers was a turning point; the repetitive structure and emotional intuitiveness of techno offered her an unlimited space for expression. Shaped by the pandemic and a breakup, Dreamstate narrates an inner journey from heartbreak to healing. For Owens, the album represents the element of "air": a state of collective dreaming, rising, and transforming together.
