"Istanbul Flavors - Tasting Cinema" is a brand new concept that offers a unique experience, capturing the historical atmosphere and street food delights of the city in just 30 minutes.
Hedypatheia: Istanbul Millennium tells the story of a modern-day poet who discovers the work of Archestratus, the author of Hedypatheia, considered the first gastronomy book in history. Inspired by this discovery, the poet decides to write his own "Hedypatheia" and embarks on a journey to explore the flavors that have thrived in Istanbul for centuries.
Throughout her journey, she visits iconic culinary destinations, from traditional Turkish bagels to Turkish coffee, and from sweet rice pudding to Turkish delight. At each stop, she encounters not only the flavors themselves, but also the artisans who create them, the centuries-old stories of the shops, and Istanbul's rich cultural heritage. Each stop reveals the city's gastronomic culture, its origins, its stories, and its historical context, while the writer, through her words, gradually constructs her own "Hedypatheia" – a journey of sensory experiences.
The "Istanbul Flavors Tasting Cinema" takes this story beyond a typical film screening. Throughout the film, selected delicacies from the locations visited are presented on a special tasting platter for the audience to enjoy simultaneously. In this way, viewers not only witness the poet's journey of discovery, but also become a part of the story by experiencing the same flavors at the same time.
This immersive experience, lasting approximately 30 minutes, combines cinema, gastronomy, and cultural storytelling, allowing you to not only see Istanbul but also to taste and feel it.
