Everyone Looks Like My Husband (Play)

One Act.

"No, I'm a little better since that night, but I still don't feel completely at peace. I don't understand; it's as if my anger is just sitting there inside me, like a heavy ball. It's cold, but it hasn't completely gone away. And sometimes, I still feel terrible. Something has been stuck with me since that night. My mind is constantly racing, it never stops. My head and my brain are always on alert. I keep telling myself, 'Calm down, girl.' I say it like that, maybe because I'm a woman, and I think my mind should be feminine too. She's a woman with eyes that are wide open, like a demon's."

Ayten, who works as a restroom attendant in a cabaret, recounts her story piece by piece. She talks about how she ended up "here," her husband who abandoned her, her sadness, her passions, her fellow workers at the cabaret whom she loves, but most of all, her anger. That anger, which she couldn't quite define in the past but gradually came to understand, shatters one day, like the frosted glass of a restroom stall, and after that, nothing is ever the same.
