GÜNEŞKAYA VADİSİ DOĞA YÜRÜYÜŞÜ
Where the Ergene River originates.
We are going to Güneşkaya Valley.
We invite you to enjoy a walk along the river on one of our scenic trails in Thrace.
- Güneşkaya Valley
Located approximately 2 kilometers west of the town of Saray, Güneşkaya is an ancient settlement site. Due to the presence of caves and historical remains in the area, it was designated as a protected area on October 19, 1991. It is believed to be the oldest settlement not only in Saray but also in Tekirdağ. Surface surveys have revealed artifacts dating back to the Chalcolithic period (approximately 500-300 BC), which is considered evidence supporting this belief.
One of the main sources of the Ergene River originates from Karatepe, a peak 473 meters high, located in Güneşkaya.
The area was registered on April 15, 2020, as a "Natural Site - Designated Natural Protected Area."
The region boasts stunning visuals, featuring rock formations and caves similar to those found in the Çatalca caves and the Güngörmez Kanara canyon.
