Edmond Rostand's world-renowned classic, Cyrano de Bergerac (Cyrano Rock), has been reimagined by Kemal Başar with an interactive, contemporary, and musical direction and dramaturgy. It serves as a manifesto, rebelling against the current world order where virtue, pride, and ethics are disregarded, while also highlighting various corrupt practices within the theater world. Kemal Başar, an internationally recognized director and actor, received the Üstün Akmen Special Award in 2024 for his lifetime achievement and for successfully promoting Turkish theater abroad. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Anadolu Awards for his international success. In addition to directing, designing the lighting, and playing the role of Cyrano, the production earned the award for best ensemble performance in 2024, and in 2025, it brought Kemal Başar the award for best director for two separate years. The production has also garnered significant interest abroad. In 2025, it was featured as a main performance at the Sibiu International Theater Festival in Romania. Its participation in the Seoul International Festival has been confirmed, and its international tour continues. Cyrano, a renowned and feared swordsman, is also a talented poet and orator. However, he is complex due to his large nose. He is in love with Roxanne. Roxanne, in turn, is in love with the young, handsome officer Christian from Cyrano's regiment, and she seeks Cyrano's help. Despite his deep love for Roxanne, Cyrano, a virtuous man, does everything he can to help them be together.
